How does your employer compare to others?
For years I used to say that every firm was the same.
Now that I’ve worked with hundreds of attorneys from many different firms, I can admit that I was wrong.
Like really wrong.
Yes, every firm (or company or department) has issues.
No employer is perfect.
But so many people are working with firms and companies that aren’t the right fit for them.
Here’s what else I’ve discovered…
The longer you stay with a company the more likely you are to tell yourself that you couldn’t be treated better anywhere else, it’s as good as it could get, and at least you’re respected and have clout in your current organization.
Sound familiar?
Here’s what I’ve learned about that…
It’s complete BS!
Those are excuses based on fear and a lack of self-worth.
I know this because I suffer from these things as well. I am human after all.
We all want to feel secure.
In many ways staying where we are makes us feel safe and in control.
We tell ourselves:
“Yes, there are landmines and dead bodies, but at least I know where they are.”
That’s a false sense of security, my friends.
If you don’t like your job but are full of excuses as to why it’s the best you can get, I want you to listen to today’s Hustle & Flow podcast episode.
I discuss why all firms and companies are NOT created equal and the three common myths that tell us otherwise.
If you know why you’re making up stories in your head (and we all do it!), it’s easier to discover the truth.
You can listen to the episode HERE on iTunes or HERE on an Android device.
And…
If you know in your gut you’re ready to make a change or at least explore your options, I encourage you to sign up for the Legal Career Clarity Course.
We start on September 21 and I’d love to work with you.
Just be sure to register by next Tuesday.
And, please note, there’s a cap on participants so it might sell out before then…
Although we don’t officially get started until next week, the private Facebook group for the course is starting this week!
You can get all the details and sign up HERE.
Best,
Heather
P.S. The Legal Career Clarity Course won’t be offered again until 2018 so this is your last chance to sign up this year. And if you’re happy where you are (that’s awesome!!!), please share the course with your friends and colleagues that might not be as fortunate as you.
