Worried about selling your services right now?
Pre-Coronavirus…
I wish I could just do my job and serve my clients. Why do I have to promote and sell myself?
I hate business development and selling my services. It feels so icky. I don’t want anyone to feel as though I’m pushy or pressuring them to buy.
Who has time for business development? I have so much work to do that I struggle to find the time to focus on marketing.
Have you ever said these things?
If so, you’re in good company. I’ve heard this over and over again from so many business owners and professionals.
So, it’s not really a surprise that I’m now starting to hear the following:
During Coronavirus…
It’s inappropriate to promote myself right now. I should either pull back on all marketing efforts or just give away all of my services for free.
I’m worried about how I’ll bring in enough business, but I don’t want to sell anything right now because no one needs what I’m offering and no one will buy anything right now anyway.
I have time to work on business development, but now doesn’t seem like the right time. I should wait to see how things unfold.
These thoughts really aren’t new. They’re just an extension of your underlying beliefs…
That marketing and sales is a bad thing because it’s manipulative and pushy.
Or, that it’s a skill you can’t seem to master so you’re not sure where or how to focus your time on it.
I actually LOVE it when I hear people say these things.
You know why?
Because it means they’re a person who values integrity, honesty, and serving others.
The world would be such a better place if everyone came from that same point of view. Imagine how much better off we’d all be if businesses and leaders were all leading from love and generosity instead of fear and scarcity.
And, it’s why your clients (and prospects) so desperately need you!
You’re a bright light. You’re reasonable. You care.
There’s only one missing link.
They don’t know what you offer or how you can help them (now or in the future). Heck, they may not even know who you are!
Once you shift your perspective, you’ll not only fall in love with marketing and sales, you’ll make far more money.
It’s literally a win-win for everyone.
